Mirrors

Mirrors

A mirror will always reflect who/what faces it. When a person looks into a mirror, it allows for them to see themselves as they are, not as they think or imagine they are. This is a sobering reality, and the insight it affords can be invaluable. Mirrors are not always man made however. For example, the surface of still body of water possesses similar properties and characteristics. In certain ways and in certain respects, people can act as mirrors too. It is possible to reflect on yourself… not so much outwardly, or in physical/bodily terms, but rather, in terms of your personage as it concerns your morality, ethics, values, and ideals. It is also possible for others to reflect who you are. The company you keep can speak volumes to your values, and other beliefs, often without your efforts, intention, or knowledge. Others’ perception of you can be telling… Speaking in relative/general terms, the way people feel about you relates to how you make them feel. What will the mirrors you see show you about what you cannot otherwise see for yourself? And after reflecting on that, how then will you show up in the world? Because the world, or rather reality and, more specifically, your perception of it, is mirror-like as well. Which is to say, we create our reality, subconsciously or otherwise, through the lens of our perceptions of our surroundings, environment, circumstances, mindset, sense of belonging, and sense of purpose, etc… In order to truly see, we must show ourselves. And even when being or having been shown, understanding or acceptance can add depth to awareness, So take time to look at everything at face value, especially yourself, when given the opportunity, for, you are sure to find value in that approach, far beyond the surface level.
