Knowns

What is the difference between knowing what to do and doing what you know? While both have direction, only one of the two is action based as only one of the two implies motion. Doing what you know is kinetic, whereas knowing what to do has potential to be, but, ultimately, is not gaining anything in the way of speed, momentum, efficiency, etc. In many ways, knowing what to do is static, becoming increasingly stagnant with the passing of each action-less moment. Saying you know what to do is all talk; but, when your actions speak, you’re walking the walk. The destination is found by making the journey. Even the best laid plans need to be acted upon to fulfill their promise. The most slight of actions is more grand than the most grandiose of plans. This is not to say or imply that aims and goals are of no import; but, what you produce and export, what you execute, has the possibility of making a fuller contribution to your growth, and the world at large, than thoughts alone. Knowledge without application is a book on a shelf. Knowledge becomes power when there is force behind it, as power is no more than force with a velocity; that is, speed in a given direction. This energetic shift becomes evident due to change over a period of time. When knowledge is put into action, its effectiveness, or lack thereof, soon becomes clear. Practical knowledge is knowledge put into practice, and practice is how we improve.

If you know you know, ya know?
