Keep Going!

Keep Going!

Newton's First Law of Motion states that “a body at rest will remain at rest unless an outside force acts on it, and a body in motion at a constant velocity will remain in motion… unless acted upon by an outside force.”As it relates to your body of work, you are the force in question. How will you act? Remember, inaction is itself an action. So whether you are about to start or you feel like you are on the other end of the spectrum it is important to bear in mind the physics of it all. It is difficult and often requires the most energy to go from a standstill to that first step. It is hard to go from nothing to something. However, it is also rewarding to get going, as it becomes natural to keep going as the law of inertia states. Taking action sets in motion a snowball effect of inspired actions on your body of work, be it an act of kindness, an artist endeavor, a business venture, et cetera et cetera… the act itself can be rewarding enough to inspire subsequent action, leading to growth and improvement in not only your body of work, but yourself. It could even lead to recognition from others. But it is important to take this recognition with a grain of salt and not at face value as the value of your work is not always best, or even equally measured by the payment, whether that is attention or some form or monetary compensation, from those other than yourself that reap its rewards residually. In fact, looking for such things can deter or distract, perhaps even derail your momentum altogether, stunting whatever progress you could have been making in the process. So find what it is you love to do and when you do, do it for the love of doing it. Give it all you have to give, time, effort, etc. and it will endure, allowing you to receive from it all you are due, including the reassurance and the energy to keep doing it. As far as other winnings and payoffs, worry not, they will keep coming, as long as you keep going!
